Servage: wordpress plugin autoupgrade problem

Recently i’ve signed up to Servage hosting. It seems like Servage could be affordable hosting solution for my projects.

There are autoinstaller feature wich can instantly install wordpress for you. All just fine however it was impossible for me to use Wordpress’s plugin autoupgrade feature.

Here is the solution:

Change wp-content permissions to 777
Find file wp-admin/includes/file.php
Replace string:

if ( getmyuid() == fileowner($temp_file) )

to

if ( posix_getuid() == fileowner($temp_file) )

Probably one of the cool features of php for novice developers is a possibility to mix code and design elements in one file. It’s let you start writing your scripts very fast.
However when complexity of your scripts grows it’s become too hard to change design of your pages. Known solve of this problem is a design templates. There are several solutions available out there. I want to share with you my own solution. I’ve developed a very simple class to work with templates. It’s very simple to use and ultra fast at runtime.

Template is a usual html page with special placeholders for dynamic content. They look’s like
%%TITLE%%
%%AUTOR%%
etc.

Download TIvTemplate.
Here is an example of using this class

Adding indexes to your tables is a great method to boost your application performance. Index helps database engine to quickly find requested data and performing efficient sorting and grouping operations. Today i was analized two similar bloghosting platforms. I was tried to find some bottlenecks in their architecture to enhance performance. First thing i was did is analize all important queries and add necesary indexes to related tables. There are great SQL statement which is greately helps in table optimization process^ EXPLAIN.

EXPLAIN SELECT * FROM SOME_TABLE WHERE ADATE

This simple query gives you all required information to decide which indexes mysql will use to execute this query and you can easily decide to add all additional indexes.
